Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Value for Quality, Tastes Great, Easy to Install After years of attempting to use cheap pitcher and attachable filters, I finally made the step up to a 2-stage Undercounter filter, and it's been the best system I've ever used. The price was perfect, and after days of shopping and reading reviews, I chose this one because of the price, additional items, quality ratings and ease of install. I didn't mount mine against the back cabinet because I live in an apartment, but it's been perfectly fine nonetheless. The taste, color, odor etc. I experienced with other brands of filters are completely gone, and the chrome filter matches my other fixtures like they came from the same set. Overall, these filters are excellent and you won't regret picking this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE my We had a kitchen remodel and put a new one in- the plumber did it as it was part of the remodel-but our first one just needed one of us to install it. I am quite impressed with the tiny 1-2" hole that is cut into the granite, it doesn't need a plate just comes out of the counter and looks fantastic- so easy to clean. If you have to install to a larger hole, they include a disc to put over the hole as our last one had. The water comes out very fast and shuts off quickly and completely with no dripping- We are so happy with it. It's our best filter yet. I have had various aquasana systems for 10 years and love the quality of the water. In my next house will put in the whole house filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Matches our New Sink-Faucet I looked online for a new system right after we upgraded our kitchen. We had installed new counter tops, a big beautiful granite-composite sink and a real nice brushed nickel faucet. The place is beautiful, but our original clamp on filter (PUR), would not fit the application. After browsing the internet I found Aquasana. I like the Water-for-Life Program which will deliver my filters every six months, and adds a lifetime warranty on the equipment @no charge. The products were easy to install and match our kitchen upgrade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent and Reasonably Priced I had intended to install the unit myself but had a plumber in the house for other issues, so had him install the unit. I have a newer faucet with a sprayer and apparently you can't replace the sprayer with the filter faucet on newer sinks, so the plumber drilled a new hole in the steel sink. The unit itself is attractive and works great. I have had filter systems before and this one has the fastest flow of the various brands I had.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product, awkward faucet It works, removes chlorine odors, the water flow is good, convenient. The faucet is awkward, first of all it is narrower than the hole in the sink, so the rubber washer goes right trough the hole and offer no protection; then the spacer barely holds the faucet in place. The faucet knob is so hard to move, that I'm afraid the fragile spacer will give up. Also the faucet knob is so designed that if right hand installed (for a right handed person), one has to push it forward to open, which is counter intuitive (unless I got the wrong, left handed version?)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Noticably better tasting water We bought a filter for our kitchen because our 90 year old home has a lead service line from the city water main. Installation was fairly easy, but including longer hose would have simplified installation -- I had to go to Home Depot to buy more hose based on my installation location and my under-sink configuration. Another 12" would have done it. Once installed, I conducted a blind taste test with my family, and we all chose the filtered water as the better tasting. I enrolled in Water for Life because it allows me to not have to keep track of my filter conditions and when to change them. I also really appreciated the thorough information on returning - recycling the spent filters. I'm happy to know that I can recycle the plastic components, and compost the filtering compounds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good filter but gunk? The water from this filter tastes great! I only have to change the filter occasionally, and it's easy to do. For some reason, the faucet, where an aerator would be on a bigger faucet, seems to always have gunk. I don't know if it's there on every sink and I just don't see it, but if it is, I guess that's preferable to seeing it. Despite that, I bought another one for work. We previously had the electric filter from Aquasana, and it was too much trouble with the volume of water we go through at the business.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tasting water just too low flow Water tastes great and the filters were easy to install. My only issue is the flow rate is quite a bit slower than I expected. I will probably by the three filter system and move this two filter system to the ice maker. The brushed nickel faucet was good looking and has a quality appearance. The base cap-cover barely covers the sink opening, so be prepared by measuring your existing opening to ensure it will completely cover without any gaps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from don t know i m sorry to say i had to return the system. it was never used. i already have a system which i wanted to replace but the plummer wanted to charge $ 125.00 to change my plumming to fit your unit. it would be helpful if at time of sale being asked if a system already existed. then have you send me a copy of what is needed to install. it would save money for both of us. your customer service is excellant

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great CSR experience My only real issue was in the installation of this as a replacement. My original filter-fixture was installed with a new sink-cabinet. (Plenty of access to install the spigot and filters) Replacing the new spigot is more than difficult without tearing out the entire sink to access the old faucet due to location and cabinet opening size. If you added a spacer for the stem of the faucet and standard

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Our under counter drinking water filter systems are very easy to install, and it only takes a few minutes to do; no plumber is necessary. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. How often do I have to replace the cartridges and how much do they cost?

We recommend replacing the cartridges after six months or the specified gallon capacity to prevent the growth of bacteria in the system. The AQ-5100 Single Stage has a capacity of 200 gallons, the AQ-5200 Two-Stage has a capacity of 500 gallons, the AQ-5300 Three-Stage has a capacity of 600 gallons and the AQ-5300+ Three-Stage has a capacity of 800 gallons. Replacement filters cost $29.99 for the AQ-5100, $59.99 for the AQ-5200, $64.99 for the AQ-5300 or $79.99 for the AQ-5300+, but you can save 15%, get free shipping, and extend your product warranty by signing up for our no-contract auto-ship filter replacement program, Water for Life. The performance indicating device on the AQ-5200, AQ-5300 and AQ-5300+ systems will sound a beeping alarm and flash red when it is time to change your cartridges. The AQ-5300+ also contains Bluetooth connectivity so you can download our iPhone App and get alerts for when it is time to change your cartridges and even order new replacements straight from the App!

  3. Is this purified water?

No, and actually, purified water is not as healthy as filtered water. Purified water undergoes reverse osmosis or distillation, which strip everything out of your water - not only the contaminants, but also the healthy, natural minerals. Our system uses selective filtration designed to reduce contaminants from the water and leave in the natural healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

  4. How do I recycle the replacement filters?

We have designed this system to minimize the environmental impact of our replacement elements, which are over 95% biodegradable carbon. Our company will recycle the filters for you, but we do not cover the shipping cost to return the filters back to us. In reality, the environmental impact of shipping the filters back to us outweighs the good of recycling. To recycle the drinking filters yourself, remove the ends of the filters, recycle the plastic parts (which are appropriately numbered) and put the carbon either in your compost pile or garden (carbon is good for plant life), or just throw it out (since the carbon degrades quickly, and is a positive component in a landfill).

  5. I'm a renter, so I can't drill or modify the plumbing. What should I do?

To install an under counter system, you can remove the existing sprayer or soap dispenser on your sink and install our faucet in its place. This option will not damage or permanently modify your plumbing. When you move out, you can easily remove the system and reconnect your plumbing back to normal. If you do not have an existing hole in your sink from a sprayer or soap dispenser, we also have a countertop drinking water filter that conveniently screws on to most kitchen faucets.

  6. What is the size of the brass T-fitting for under counter and premium under counter unit?

The most common size is 3/8" which originally comes with the system purchase. In rare cases some customers may need a 1/2" T-fitting which is sold separately and is available for purchase through technical support.

  7. What size hole do I need in my sink for the under counter and premium under counter systems?

The faucet that is included with our systems requires a 1/2" hole.

  8. What does TDS mean?

TDS is the acronym for Total Dissolved Solids, the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals, but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

  9. What is BPA? And why are people concerned about it?

BPA stands for Bisphenol-A, a contaminant found in most plastics. BPA can adversely affect your health if consumed at high levels. Aquasana drinking systems do not contain BPA, and our filtration process reduces existing BPA.

  10. Does having hard water mean it is contaminated?

Hard water is more of a nuisance than a health risk, and is not necessarily contaminated. Most water sources in the USA are considered hard. Hard water is generally safe to drink, after it has been properly treated.

  11. What is soft water, and is it safe to drink?

Having soft water just means you have a lower concentration of dissolved minerals in the water (primarily calcium and magnesium). Soft water does not mean clean water. Your water can be soft and still contain contaminants.

  12. What is selective filtration, and how do Aquasana systems filter drinking water?

Selective filtration is the process of sub-micron filtration, micron filtration, adsorption and ion exchange, all of which selectively reduces chemicals, heavy particulates and most dangerous heavy metals from the water while maintaining healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium.

  13. What is the difference between the single-stage, 2-stage and 3-stage under counter systems?

All of our drinking water systems use the same Aquasana Claryum® filtration technology. The single-stage system lasts 6 months or 200 gallons before the cartridges need to be replaced. Our 2- Stage system has a higher capacity than the single-stage, giving you 6 months or 500 gallons of clean, filtered water. The 3-Stage system includes a 20 micron pre-filter before the two Aquasana Claryum® filters. This pre-filter increases the capacity of the system from 500 gallons to 600 gallons. In addition, it improves flow rate in high sediment areas. The 3-Stage Max Flow system adds even more capacity to 800 gallons, a 44% increase in flow rate at .72 gallons per minute and Bluetooth connectivity for filter tracking.

  14. I have an existing side faucet from a previous system. Can I use that with my new Aquasana water filter?

We recommend that you use the faucet provided. We have extensively tested the system with the faucets included. The faucets are NSF Certified to have no lead content. In addition, they will not impart any unwanted chemicals into your water. If you choose to use another faucet, we recommend that you have a plumber install the system to ensure no leakage occurs. We also recommend that you install an NSF Certified faucet to ensure the health benefits of your new Aquasana water filter.

Hi. I'm thinking of buying one of your two stage systems for our cottage. I see that the filter is good for 500 gallons. That's likely 2-3 years of water at the cottage. Can I remove the filter and store it in the offseason? Thanks.

Asked by: Jason
Thank you for your interest in Aquasana! While our filters are certified for 500 gallons, we suggest replacing the filter in that system every 6 months. After 6 months we can no longer guarantee the performance will continue to meet the same filtration percentage reduction as the performance data. This is because after 6 months the filter will start to become over saturated and the media will start to degrade. In the case of filtration systems, it is not always necessarily the amount of water that has passed through the system, but the amount of time that the filters have been in contact with Water. Keep in mind that while you may be using a minimal amount of water, the filters are constantly soaking in the water, waiting for a valve to open, and the water to resume flowing. Once the filter starts to degrade due to elongated contact with water, you risk bacteria and mold growing inside the filter and the system: Heterotrophs (heterotrophic bacteria) are a group of microorganisms (yeast, molds & bacteria) that use organic carbon as food (as opposed to autotrophs like algae that use sunlight) and are found in every type of water. We base our estimates and requirements on the testing done by the NSF and make suggestions based on the safest and healthiest way to maintain our systems. Thank you, Aquasana Customer Support
