How much should I drink?
If you ask most people what’s the right amount of water to drink each day, they’d likely say 8, 8-ounce glasses of water. This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember. However, that’s not necessarily the right formula for you.
Water makes up over half of your body—60% of you is water! Every one of us needs water to survive. You lose water when you breathe, sweat and go to the bathroom. To keep your body running at its best, here is our water calculator:
Size and Weight + Activity Level
The amount of water a person needs depends on his or her height and weight. Many doctors recommend drinking between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound you weigh. If you live in a hot climate or you are very active, you’ll need to be on the higher end of that range.
That’s just a baseline. The best way to know how much you need is to base it on your internal calculator- how do you feel? If you are dehydrated, you will feel thirsty, irritable and have low energy. We find that the more filtered water you drink the better you feel and that’s the best measure of good health!
