Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aquasana to the rescue! Chemical contaminates more easily affect you from shower water, rather than drinking water. Due to the bodies surface area, and contact time, your shower may be hazardous to your health. Our water utility provider adds chlorination to the maximum allowed. Can't hardly imagine the resulting chemistry, as it interacts with undissolved organic compounds. Aquasana to the rescue! The Aquasana shower filter is a perfect complement to their drinking water filter solution. The money I saved, switching from Brita to Aquasana (drinking water filtration) paid for the shower filters. Could not be more pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chemical smell gone! I had no idea how much my water smelled of chemicals until I started using this filter on my shower. Now, when I run water in the sink or someone's house, I can smell the chemicals in the water. Wish I could afford a whole house system, but not in my budget. It is a bit difficult for me to change. I am a single female but am pretty good with tools so it is just getting a step ladder in the shower and all is good. I do not like the look of the filter. I was thinking about updating my bath and this would not look very attractive. May should add different finishes to match people's existing fixtures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shower and counter top water filters! I have been using a counter top water filter for many years. We had a problem at one point and were waiting for the replacement and drank the tap water. We both experienced extreme pain in our thighs after drinking the water! We would never be without the filter system again. Later my Husband suffered from emphysema and had difficulty breathing in the shower. We got a shower filter and it greatly improved his shower experience. It was still steamy and a little difficult but without the chlorine it was so much better for him. I found it improved my hair and made my skin nice and smooth as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This one really works! I have the hand-held shower: the metal shower heads were excellent. The plastic shower heads, NO! I've had one soaking in vinegar for over a month - I am not kidding - but it still doesn't produce a decent fine spray. This is so very frustrating. The filter is a dream, the hand-held shower head a joke. PLEASE bring back the metal shower head!!!! The shower head and the difficulty of changing the filter are the only reasons that I would not recommend this, except to those with no issues with hand and arm strength.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Shower filter holder did not last The shower filter itself did what it said it would do and I have no issues with that. The problem I had when changing out the filter this last time, the connection to the filter holder broke off, literally. So, now I need to order the filter housing, which is another $50 investment. From a cost perspective, the filters are higher priced compared to other filter systems for just filtering chlorine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional hair model Softness in my hair and skin is noticeable. I live in Houston where the water seems to really dry out my hair and skin, resulting in excessive shedding in the shower. Since installing the Aquasana filter, I have noticed a considerable improvement in my hair and almost no shedding in the shower. It is very easy to install. I'm definitely not a handyman and was able to install the Aquasana quickly. I have been using this product for almost 2 years. My boyfriend has also noticed a significant difference in his skin and hair. It's just really great and affordable and I feel like a million bucks. Like I'm showering in the purest rainforest with tiny droplets of heaven purifying my scalp. It's possibly the fountain of youth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Satisfied We have been lifetime Aquasonic customers for at least 7 years. The product is excellent, easy to install and their method of payment for semi-annual shipments is a breeze. However, the best is their customer service...a couple of years ago we had an issue and ended up with three extra filters. I called the CS line and they immediately suggested that we just delay the next two shipments with no payment and then resume. That's exactly what they did and now we're right back on schedule with our much appreciated Aquasana shower filters! Thanks!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product I can tell the difference with the filter! We do have well water and it was taking a toll on my hair and face. I've seen minor improvements. Only "bad" things I can say is how the water pressure at some points will come out as a spray and not the gentle setting it is on. I assume this has something to do with the filter. When i reached out to customer service to ask about it it was short and sweet

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but a little bulky I love the taste in the drinking filters and the shower filters provide some removal of the intense minerals that deposite in my shower, but that's about it. Aqua sans used to provide new rubber ring fittings with every filter but haven't done that in many years. My rubber washers are constantly leaking and I find that I must over tighten the cartridge. Aquasana will send out replacement parts at

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fooled by ease to chage the filter Nice filter but having to take down the whole system defeated the reason to have the filter on the bottom that could simply be unscrewed. Other systems are smaller and more compact but those you do have to take down the whole system. So seeing that the Aquasana system has the filter on the bottom would make one think it is easy to chage the filter - just unscrew to old filter and screw in the new

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Aquasana shower systems are very easy to install, and you can do it yourself in minutes. No plumber is necessary. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. What is the flow rate of the AQ-4100, AQ-4100NSH, & AQ-4105?

The optimum flow rate for the filter and shower head is 2.5 gallons per minute.

  3. Can I use my own shower head or hand-held wand with the AQ-4100?

Yes, you can use your own shower head. The AQ-4100NSH is the correct model for individuals using their own shower head. Just remember the shower head needs to have the same 1/2 inch connection as standard shower heads and the ideal flow rate would be 2.5 gallons per minute. If your shower head processes more than a 2.5 gallon flow rate per minute, the quality of filtration may degrade slightly. Increasing the flow rate by changing the shower head reduces contact time with the media and will reduce the filtration quality. If you decrease the flow rate of the system by using a different shower head, or use a shower head with a shut-off switch, you may cause damage to the system and void your warranty.

  4. Can I use the shower system for drinking water?

Drinking some of the water during your shower poses no health risk. However, Aquasana does not recommend that you use the shower system as a primary drinking water source since it is not designed as a drinking system and has only been tested under shower conditions and regulations.

  5. Can I hook the shower system up under a constant pressure application?

No, the shower system is designed to allow the water to consistently pass through the system as it filters. If the system is under constant pressure and unable to release the pressure introduced into the system during filtration, damage can occur to the unit.

  6. How do I know if the Aquasana shower system will fit the shower pipe coming out of my wall?

Most shower connections are 1/2 inch, which means that the Aquasana shower systems will fit the shower pipe in most homes.

  7. How much chlorine does the shower system remove?

Aquasana shower systems are tested to remove 91% chlorine for 10,000 gallons.

  8. How do I know how many showers it takes to use 10,000 gallons?

10,000 gallons at 2 1/2 gallons per minute = 4,000 minutes of showering
    - You can take 400 10-minute showers
    - You can take 267 15-minute showers

User Q & A

How do I know when a new filter for my shower is needed? When I turn it on the water runs dark for a few minutes. Is that normal?

Asked by: bella
Hi Bella, There are a couple things that can cause that surge of dark water when you turn the system on. If it is a new filter, then this is just the excess carbon being flushed out, and should resolve itself after a week or so. If it is an older filter, then it is just sediment that has been trapped inside the filter. When you turn the water on, that initial surge of water can force that trapped dirt out. We suggest changing the filter every 6 months to ensure that the filtration media does not start to degrade. Thank you, Aquasana Customer Support

are all the replacement filters the same there any kind of penalty for stopping auto filter delivery.

Asked by: sc64
Thank you for your interest in Aquasana! We currently only have 3 types of shower filters. The one which can be purchased online is intended for use with water treated by chlorine. If your city uses a combination of chlorine and ammonia (chloramines) or if you are on well water, you can call into 866.662.6885 and request a special filter be sent out. All of these filters will be the same price on Water for Life ($44.62). You can cancel this program at any time with no penalty. However, if you enroll in the program with one of our BOGO offers and receive a free product, we will ask that you either send back or pay for the free product if you cancel prior to your first Water for Life shipment.
