August is Water Quality Month
Yes there is a whole month dedicated to water quality awareness! For us, every month is water quality awareness month. We are very concerned about the quality of the water in the US and abroad. We often say, there are no new sources of water. That means all water is contaminated. Most city water treatment facilities were built decades ago and rely on harsh chemicals to treat the water you drink. It is considered “safe” to drink, but not (in our opinion) healthy. Our filters work hard to take out what you don’t want: chorine, lead, mercury, pesticides, herbicides, and more than 60 contaminants, while retaining the healthy minerals your body needs like potassium, magnesium, and calcium.
People often ask us why water tastes different in different parts of the country. In part water tastes different because of regional environmental exposures: agricultural runoff, industry and pollution to name a few. Water can also taste different if it comes from a city municipality or from a well. The first step in understand water quality if to get a water report. Some municipalities offer this for free and have it on their city websites. The Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, also is a good source of water quality reports.
Knowing what’s in your water will help you decide which filter is right for your needs. Aquasana also offer water testing kits free of charge. This is especially valuable for our customers who have well water.
Water is the cornerstone to good health. Understanding your water quality is important. If you pay attention to what you eat, you should pay attention to what you drink, because really every month should be water quality month.
