Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bye Bye Fluoride, hello alkaline water! This is my 3rd set of filters on my undercounter filtration system. I am extremely happy with the quality and value of Aquasana. I have the Optum H2O reverse osmosis with claryum. Bottled water doesn't stand a chance against Aquasana. I was looking for an affordable water filtration system that would remove fluoride plus provide alkalinizing minerals. I found it with Aquasana. This water is the best tasting water by far. I signed up for the filters for life program and definitely appreciate the discount and convenience for this service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplicity and convenience Available RO systems are hard to understand. Aquasana's was the easiest to understand and install. A quality product. Even better is the ease of its periodic replacement.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unexpected result This brought the already-high pH 10.5 water up to pH 11.5 - which was tested on a calibrated pH meter. Rather too high for drinking water. Additionally, it was not until I got the system that I learned high pH water requires more-frequent replacement of the reverse osmosis membrane (also every 6 months). Our water has such high pH due to "lime softening" at the municipal water treatment plant.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horrible Instructions to replace!!! Hey Aquasana, Update Your Instructions!!! Replacement Instructions are wrong! Was written by someone that doesn't know what they're talking about. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible! Tells to disconnect red hose from drain port & to remove & discard the flow restrictor! DON'T DO THIS! YOU NEED TO REUSE BOTH THE FLOW RESTRICTOR and THE WHITE ELBOW CONNECTOR. DO THIS: Remove the cartridge from the sump with the red hose remaining attached. THEN remove the white elbow with the red hose still attached from the old cartridge by pressing in the red ring on the old cartridge (where the elbow is connected) until it's flush/flat & the elbow is released. Now you have them to reuse & get your replacement cartridge installed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Make YouTube video instructions The paper instructions on how to install were not clear. They were especially difficult by not clearly describing on how to remove the pinch-pipes to the reverse osmosis filter. Please make a YouTube video to provide detailed, visual instructions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is impossible to install I have called the help desk twice and they were very responsive and sent a new elbow and then a new restrictor but it still leaks. Looks like I'll have to call a plumber or abandon the whole system. This is the first filter change and I'm really bummed. The water tastes great and I love the system but changing the filter was a big mistake.

User Q & A

Help me understand, what is the specific point/value of this filter by itself? What does Membrane Replacement, replace? I'm confused by this filter, and the details above don't elaborate/explain.

Asked by: Dagny
The RO membrane is located in stage 2. This membrane reduces the dissolved solids and organic matter. I have linked down below a link to the system to better understand the system. https://www.aquasana.com/drinking-water-filter-systems/reverse-osmosis-claryum If you have further questions please contact us at 866-662-6885. What type of plastic is the tubing made from?

Asked by: Andalee
Hello Andalee, Thank you for your question. The RO membrane is made out of a thin polyamide layer (<200 nm) deposited on top of a polyethersulfone or polysulfone porous layer (about 50 microns) on top of a non-woven fabric support sheet. if you need further assistance please contact us at 866-662-6885. My replacement filter is missing drain port elbow. Any helpful suggestions?

Asked by: Jimmyy
Aquasana doesn't ship a replacement elbow along with the new RO filter, so you have to remove and re-use the old elbow. Push the red ring around the elbow towards the filter, while pulling gently on the elbow. It should come loose pretty easily. Unfortunately the instructions don't mention this AND they tell you to just throw away the old filter, which includes the elbow. I've had my system for two years (and really like it) but last year when I replaced the filter it was the same story. I would have thought they'd fix the instructions by now. Called customer service to let them know about the issue and got a very unhelpful response, so I expect this will continue to frustrate their customers for the foreseeable future.

RO Membrane shelf life??

As long as the filter stays in its original packaging and remains dry, the filter cartridges do not expire. Thank you, Aquasana Customer Support

How long is this Membrane filter lift time? My previous Aquasana Reverse Osmosis system has Membrane filter life of 2 years. This seems only one year. Why?
