Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shower filter and wand is added unit Off to a rough start with this new filter and wand. Could not stop leak around the filter top. Called customer service, explained the problem and the unit was replaced. Replaced unit works fine. This bathroom unit is the second in home unit we are using. Have been using the original bathroom unit for a number of years. The product works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best decision to buy this! I am loving my new filter in the shower for several reasons: my skin and hair immediately feels better, less dry, and less itchy from the chemicals in tap water. My hair has a brilliant shine now too! That alone has made this purchase worth it. But I have bought this for health reasons. It is A known fact that chemicals in water are harmful to our health and our skin is our largest organ!!! I feel protected now.

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Aquasana shower systems are very easy to install, and you can do it yourself in minutes. No plumber is necessary. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. What is the flow rate of the AQ-4100, AQ-4100NSH, & AQ-4105?

The optimum flow rate for the filter and shower head is 2.5 gallons per minute.

  3. Can I use my own shower head or hand-held wand with the AQ-4100?

Yes, you can use your own shower head. The AQ-4100NSH is the correct model for individuals using their own shower head. Just remember the shower head needs to have the same 1/2 inch connection as standard shower heads and the ideal flow rate would be 2.5 gallons per minute. If your shower head processes more than a 2.5 gallon flow rate per minute, the quality of filtration may degrade slightly. Increasing the flow rate by changing the shower head reduces contact time with the media and will reduce the filtration quality. If you decrease the flow rate of the system by using a different shower head, or use a shower head with a shut-off switch, you may cause damage to the system and void your warranty.

  4. Can I use the shower system for drinking water?

Drinking some of the water during your shower poses no health risk. However, Aquasana does not recommend that you use the shower system as a primary drinking water source since it is not designed as a drinking system and has only been tested under shower conditions and regulations.

  5. Can I hook the shower system up under a constant pressure application?

No, the shower system is designed to allow the water to consistently pass through the system as it filters. If the system is under constant pressure and unable to release the pressure introduced into the system during filtration, damage can occur to the unit.

  6. How do I know if the Aquasana shower system will fit the shower pipe coming out of my wall?

Most shower connections are 1/2 inch, which means that the Aquasana shower systems will fit the shower pipe in most homes.

  7. How much chlorine does the shower system remove?

Aquasana shower systems are tested to remove 91% chlorine for 10,000 gallons.

  8. How do I know how many showers it takes to use 10,000 gallons?

10,000 gallons at 2 1/2 gallons per minute = 4,000 minutes of showering
    - You can take 400 10-minute showers
    - You can take 267 15-minute showers

Does the hand held wand angle down ? I have a very small shower stall in my apartment and how the angle of it appears it will shoot water at the upper wall.

Asked by: Amy Marie
The angle is adjustable to a certain extent. The connector between the filter and shower head can be adjusted to angle up or down, but I think the furthest down is about a 45 degree angle from the vertical or horizontal axis. my shower is only about 4 ft and it’s fine.

Does the coconut shell carbon filter work in hot water conditions? Does this filter out other impurities other than chlorine?

Asked by: LauraM
Yeah the shower filter has to be able to use hot water. I usually buy my filters for the last two years off the actually Aquasana site but just recently discovered Amazon sells it. With exchange the filter for me worked out cheaper but the kitchen sink unit(counter top) was double..just go on their site, you will find your answers as they have videos and detailed list what the filters protect you from..all I can say for sure is only one of their expensive units protects you from fluoride. so if fluoride is a concern do lots of research. I have used Aquasana kitchen sink filter and shower filter for two years. Until I got this I didn't realize how nasty city water is and how good water can taste but I don't get six month out of my kitchen sink unit as their is five of us drinking the water and using it to cook. I get about four months and you can start tasting the chlorine so you know it is running out.

Are these filters recyclable?

Asked by: Jean-Francois
Aquasana's website states that the plastic filter parts can be recycled. It also says the carbon filter can be composted. BUT, I read an article that said to never, ever, put the carbon filter in the compost or garden. All you are doing is putting all the bad contaminants in the carbon back into your soil! Who would want to do that?? Call your local sanitation department and ask them.
