Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Showers! My fiance installed the shower kit and was the first to test it out. Priming the filter was simple and fast; he did it in the shower stall. Both of our skin issues have been alleviated (mine went away completely) which leads me to believe that our sensitive skin was reacting adversely to the pollutants in our city water. This is our first purchase of this kind and from this company, so we immediately signed up for the continuity program. What surprised me the most was the customer care: Brent reached out to save us more $ by informing us we'd bought during a promotional sale. We ended up receiving a countertop model of a water purifier unit. That has yet to be installed but once it it we will use it a while and publish the review. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product - Easy to install. This product fit my needs perfectly. It delivers clean water in my shower and was very easy to install. Fool proof actually. The water pressure out of the hand held device is perfect. The handle is very light and easy to use when removing to wash hair, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge Improvement using your well water filters When I initially called Aquasana I didn't think that they carried filters for well water. But, amazingly, they do! The well water filters are not advertised on their website. What a wonderful difference in my shower now. Soap really suds's great now, skin feels really clean and without any residue from the well water. Also, hair is shiny once again and much more manageable. Also, utilizing less product. This is a great purchase and worth every penny. I am a renter. But, if I were the owner I would invest in the whole house system. Well water has different things in it over city water. It does not have chlorine or fluoride but it has iron and other contaminants. Aquasana is the only shower filter that I could find that has well water filters to remove iron plus other contaminants known to well water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Product The filter was easy to install but the metal connector was hard to attach to the inflow pipe. It was rather slippery. Other than that, the water quality has improved and the water acquired a better smell. It also became softer on the skin. I highly recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hair I just wanted to say that my daughter has very long, think and wavy hair. Without the aquasana water filter in the shower she ends up with uncombable knots in the middle of her head. With the filter her hair comes out smooth and unknotted. This is a lifesaver for our family. Plus as the advertisements say, it really does allow you to use less shampoo and conditioner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertised After a very simple installation the shower filter was purged and put to use. We were delighted with the great water pressure, no slack off there at all. My wife's first impression was how much better the water felt and smelled. She liked the shower filter and the wand is nice to use and nice to look at.I had to concur and now we are contemplating a whole house system. Nice product....as advertised

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprised! The installation was a breeze. No issues. Almost a month and I see a difference in my skin and hair! And theres no buildup on the wand or shower head so I know it's working!

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Aquasana shower systems are very easy to install, and you can do it yourself in minutes. No plumber is necessary. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. What is the flow rate of the AQ-4100, AQ-4100NSH, & AQ-4105?

The optimum flow rate for the filter and shower head is 2.5 gallons per minute.

  3. Can I use my own shower head or hand-held wand with the AQ-4100?

Yes, you can use your own shower head. The AQ-4100NSH is the correct model for individuals using their own shower head. Just remember the shower head needs to have the same 1/2 inch connection as standard shower heads and the ideal flow rate would be 2.5 gallons per minute. If your shower head processes more than a 2.5 gallon flow rate per minute, the quality of filtration may degrade slightly. Increasing the flow rate by changing the shower head reduces contact time with the media and will reduce the filtration quality. If you decrease the flow rate of the system by using a different shower head, or use a shower head with a shut-off switch, you may cause damage to the system and void your warranty.

  4. Can I use the shower system for drinking water?

Drinking some of the water during your shower poses no health risk. However, Aquasana does not recommend that you use the shower system as a primary drinking water source since it is not designed as a drinking system and has only been tested under shower conditions and regulations.

  5. Can I hook the shower system up under a constant pressure application?

No, the shower system is designed to allow the water to consistently pass through the system as it filters. If the system is under constant pressure and unable to release the pressure introduced into the system during filtration, damage can occur to the unit.

  6. How do I know if the Aquasana shower system will fit the shower pipe coming out of my wall?

Most shower connections are 1/2 inch, which means that the Aquasana shower systems will fit the shower pipe in most homes.

  7. How much chlorine does the shower system remove?

Aquasana shower systems are tested to remove 91% chlorine for 10,000 gallons.

  8. How do I know how many showers it takes to use 10,000 gallons?

10,000 gallons at 2 1/2 gallons per minute = 4,000 minutes of showering
    - You can take 400 10-minute showers
    - You can take 267 15-minute showers

how often do i have to change the filter

Asked by: moti
Hello Moti, Kindly keep in mind that the Shower System has been rated to last 400-10 minute showers or 10,000 gallons of water usage. For a household of 3-5 we recommend a filter change every 6-months. However, for a household of 1-2 the recommended time frame of 6-months can be extended to a 12-month interval if needed. I installed my shower filter and white wand. Will the white hose eventually straighten out or will it always be kinked out?

Asked by: Shavey
I have the same product. The hose has never straightened. That said, I did not take the time to lay the new hose flat across a table before installing which you may help. This is a nice product. I would warn you that the small part that holds the removable shower head in place has broken on mine and I need to have it replaced.

The inner tubing of the shower hose is made from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), a non-leaching high-quality plastic, classified as recycle #9. The chrome shower head and outer tubing are made of polypropylene, also non-leaching and recycle #7.

Does it get rid of sulfur in the water

Asked by: gloriamck
No. The shower system will not remove the sulfur from your water. Activated carbon filters can remove low levels of sulfur sediment, manganese, and iron. However, maintenance and replacement of filter systems are very high because sulfur, iron, manganese and other suspended materials in the water soon clog the filter.

Does this filter remove trihalomethanes?

Will this filter out iron?

Asked by: Dlife
Activated carbon filters can remove low levels of iron. However, maintenance and replacement of filter systems are very high because iron can clog your filter. And because the levels in well water change, we do manufacture an Iron Filtration tank to deal with these. Please call our office at 866.662.6885 to speak with a representative about our Iron Filtration.

The design of this unit puts the shower head at a strange angle so that it actually almost hits the upper wall at the other end of the tub. The angle cannot be changed to lower the shower head because the filter is in the way. Suggestions please.

Asked by: wynnie591
I installed a longer threaded shower pipe than the original one that comes from the wall. Longer ones are curved downward significantly greater that the standard  installation pipes. It gave more room for the filter to be installed in the correct position & allowed the shower head to be lower & positioned correctly too. And gave me back the space to put the shower caddy back over the shower pipe too.

Asked by: traveler
No it won't. I've had 3 RVs with the hose connection by the faucet. Top or bottom. The filter and the connection are 2 different sizes. The weight of the filter would break the fitting anyway. All you need is a good outside filter.

what do you do with the filters once it has been replaced? Can we ship them back?

Asked by: Hazel
We have designed this system to minimize the environmental impact of our replacement elements, which are over 95% biodegradable carbon. Our company will recycle the filters for you, but we do not cover the shipping cost to return the filters back to us. In reality, the environmental impact of shipping the filters back to us outweighs the good of recycling. Since the shower filter is made of a hard plastic that makes accessing the carbon very difficult, you will need to recycle the entire piece. Just check with your city, and as long as they accept polypropylene, you can just put the filter in your normal recycling bin. Thank you, Aquasana Customer Support

Will existing shower head wand work with this unit? Do you need to order your wand and shower head?

Asked by: Dennis the menace
Most shower heads will attach to the filter with the hose and hand held head, but it may place your existing head to low, the filter assembly will drop the head a couple of inches.  Replacement filters I have ordered have the male and female connecting filter top on them.  This would attach to the shower neck coming from the wall and you head would attach where the hose is shown, but as stated before, the head will be lower.
