Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a difference! I read Erin Brockovich's posts about the unhealthy effects of clorine burnout on facebook and wondered if it every happened in my area. Then one day my question was answered. I kept smelling bleach and realized it was the water I was drinking. HORRORS! I did some research online and found Aquasana highly recommended and they had a satisfaction guarantee. It also attaches to the faucet without special equipment, which was important to me since I live in an apartment. So I bought it. They even threw in a shower filter. I was stunned. The water tastes so much better, I feel cleaner when I get out of the shower, and my hair even feels and behaves better. Wonderful product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Easy to install This works great. I bought it because it removes chlorine and chloramine and much more. It's very convenient, and well priced. The water tastes so much better. I took a sip of water this morning that wasn't filtered and spit it out. What a difference. We have town water with a very strong chlorine odor when it's not filtered. It leaked after a couple of days. My husband tightened it and it's worked great ever since - about a month. I had been using ProPur Big a 2 1-2 gallon holding tank that had to be refilled every day and a half. The ProPur also took up much more space. With the Aquasana because it filters through the tap, I can use it for drinking, cooking without running out of filtered water. I am very happy that I bought this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well but replacement filters are expensive! I use this product everyday to get my drinking water from. Coming from a city that has very high lead concentrations, aquasana gave me an additional discount on the entire unit, however, they do not give discounts for the water filters. This left me in a pickle, as the entire unit is cheaper for me to buy every 6 months than it would be to get my filters through their water to life program. It would be nice to add some coupons or incentives to be able to lower that cost. Because right now, I am going to just be ordering a whole unit every six months. Half of that will be unused. Odd marketing. Other than that, the product works great. The water is tasteless. I noticed that my nails grow better. My house plants grow better. I wish there was a way to make the flow a little bit faster, but that is minor. Please...filter coupons!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clean H2O! I recently purchased Aquasana's counter top drinking water purifier and I am very happy with the system, setup took only a few minutes and the system takes up barely any room on the counter. The only draw back I can say is the filtered water poors out slowly yet not that bad. I just fill up a pitcher and keep it in the fridge. Overall, i fond this system a great value and am now wanting to purchase another unit for the bathroom upstairs as well as the shower filter. I hihgly recommemd this product to anyone who needs a portable unit, for an apartment, dorm room, cabin, orfor those who rent. Great deal on a great product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Portable Filter if You Move Alot I purchased this filter because I did not want to spend a lot of money but wanted good performance. I was planning on moving soon so I chose not to get the more permanent under counter reverse osmosis versions. This has been working out well. I don't keep it attached to my kitchen sink all the time. I only connect it every 4-5 days. Instead I use glass bottles to store my water. I have 20 of them and I wait until there empty and then fill them all up again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from leaks horendously I really like this filter, and the features it has, along with what it filters out of the water.|But every time I replace the cartridges it gets leakier. Despite cranking it to tight I personally can not get it open, water pours out the bottom of the filter as fast as it does the facet end. I put it in a bake tray, and set it in my sink when I turn it on. Pathetic. It's only a couple years old (bu

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The new on off pull switch is and exceptional improvement... The water filter itself is the main feature although the change to how the filter is turned on and off is an exceptional improvement. A slight pull and turn the water on, it works. Turn the water off and the filter disengages. The old version required you to turn a very small handle for both On and Off. The new on-off pull tab... Absolutely Exceptional. The filtration is, as always, a great feature too! Thank you for the improvement...!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work with our faucet! Salesperson didn't ask about The salesperson never asked about the faucet, it does not work with our faucet. The 1st thing the instructions tells you is it will not work with certain faucets, which we have! Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best filtered water I have ever tasted I purchased this product for our household use as we were looking for an alternative to our common countertop water filter pitcher. The availability of continuously cold filtered water has been a luxury to us. The water tastes so clean and refreshing that reaching my hydration goals has become even more rewarding. The installation could not have been more simple and interacting with customer service so far has been extremely satisfactory. Looking forward, the availability of hose length options would be useful to accommodate different kitchen configurations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! Saves time and money! This water filter is fantastic! We've been using our water filter everyday to fill large bottles of drinking water. It tastes great, and I can tell a huge difference between the filtered and non-filtered water by taste. It's convenient, portable, if needed, and hooks easily to the faucet for fuss-free use. We will be using our Aquasana for many years to come. The automatic replacement filter program will make our lives easier, as well!

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Our countertop drinking water filter system is very easy to install, and it only takes a few minutes to do; no plumber is necessary. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. How often do I have to replace the cartridges and how much do they cost?

We recommend replacing the cartridges after six months or 450 gallons, whichever comes first. Replacement filters cost $59.99, but you can save 15%, get free shipping, and extend your product warranty by signing up for our no-contract auto-ship filter replacement program, Water for Life.

  3. Is this purified water?

No, and actually, purified water is not as healthy as filtered water. Purified water undergoes reverse osmosis or distillation, which strip everything out of your water - not only the contaminants, but also the healthy, natural minerals. Our system uses selective filtration designed to reduce contaminants from the water and leave in the natural healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

  4. How do I recycle the replacement filters?

Our company will recycle the filters for you, but we do not cover the shipping cost to return the filters back to us. In reality, the environmental impact of shipping the filters back to us outweighs the good of recycling. To recycle the AQ-4035 drinking filters yourself, remove the ends of the filters, recycle the plastic parts (which are appropriately numbered) and put the carbon either in your compost pile or garden (carbon is good for plant life), or just throw it out (since the carbon degrades quickly, and is a positive component in a landfill).

  5. I'm a renter, so I can't drill or modify the plumbing. Which filter system should I get?

The countertop system is perfect for renters because it does not require a new hole in the counter. To install an under counter system, you can remove the existing sprayer or soap dispenser in your rental and install our faucet in its place. This option will not damage or permanently modify your plumbing. When you move out, you can easily remove the system and reconnect your plumbing back to normal.

  6. What size adapters do you send with the countertop system (for the diverter hose)?

    13/16 and 15/16 male.

  7. What size is the chrome collar on the countertop system (on the diverter hose)?

    55/64-27 female.

  8. What does TDS mean?

TDS is the acronym for Total Dissolved Solids, the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals, but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

  9. What is BPA? And why are people concerned about it?

BPA stands for Bisphenol-A, a contaminant found in most plastics. BPA can adversely affect your health if consumed at high levels. Aquasana drinking systems do not contain BPA, and our filtration process reduces existing BPA.

  10. Does having hard water mean it is contaminated?

Hard water is more of a nuisance than a health risk, and is not necessarily contaminated. Most water sources in the USA are considered hard. Hard water is generally safe to drink, after it has been properly treated.

  11. What is soft water, and is it safe to drink?

Having soft water just means you have a lower concentration of dissolved minerals in the water (primarily calcium and magnesium). Soft water does not mean clean water. Your water can be soft and still contain contaminants.

  12. What is selective filtration, and how do Aquasana systems filter drinking water?

Selective filtration is the process of sub-micron filtration, micron filtration, adsorption and ion exchange, all of which selectively reduces chemicals, heavy particulates and most dangerous heavy metals from the water while maintaining healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium.

  13. How do I know if an Aquasana system will be compatible with my faucet?

The only faucets the AQ-4000 water filtration system will not be compatible with are the 2-in-1 faucets that have a detachable sprayer at the faucet opening. The AQ-4000 will fit most standard faucets and also comes with two adapters. If your faucet happens to be a non-standard size than the hose connection or adapters that come with unit, you can take your aerator to the plumbing section at your local hardware store and have it measured. After you know the size of your aerator, contact technical support with the size and we will see if we carry the right size adapter, and we will send it to you.

User Q & A

Can anyone tell the flow rate of this. I installed a new one. With good water pressure, I'm getting only 12oz (350ml) water in 30 seconds. Normal?

Asked by: A_E_
I believe this is normal. It takes a little time to filter the water. If the water ran through too fast it would not be properly filtered. Personally, I am glad it does this because I had previously purchased a filter that did not regulate the flow to the proper speed and I could never trust what I was going to get out of the filter. I use my filter only for drinking and cooking water. I use normal tap water for clean up and rinse operations. Hope that helps.

After attaching the countertop filter to our Faucet, the diverted valve is not flowing steady.

First I would check the connections both to the filter casing and also the faucet. Did ypi let the water run for 10min after hooking your system up? If both suggestions fail contact Aquasana support. They are very helpful and quick to resolve any issues.
