Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great We have had this style for years. We used to buy it from Mercola - I assume it is the same as it looks exactly the same. Mercola no longer sells this so we are happy to find it here. It is easy to install and use. We've had probably around 3 units over the last ten years. We change the cartridges every 6 months but according to the stats on how much we use, we probably only need once a year. I'd rather do 6 monthly though to be safe. The water always tastes great. After a while the tubes get pretty dirty from the water but they can be changed out easily enough. The water is always clear and great tasting. The water flow is excellent. This is a very convenient, excellent set. Perfect for us as renters also. Easy to take with you if you need to. I highly recommend and will continue to use this brand. The fact it was first endorsed by Mercola means a lot to me also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy clean water and fresh taste. So far, having the countertop unit has far exceeded the quality and performance of the PUR unit we had mounted on our faucet before. The flow is faster and the taste is clean. We’re happy and are really looking forward to the auto shipment of the replacement filters as needed. This was a valuable purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, love, love. Added one to bathroom sink this Installation is quite simple. I have been usung these for many pears and have bought many for family as well. Save a small fortune in individual bottled water and help cut down on plastic pollution. Love this filter system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted! I wanted to upgrade from the standard Brita. This system is what I need. Went with countertop model because of the size of my kitchen and storage space. Easy install. Tasted a difference immediately which was nice but my greatest delight came when I noticed that the electric kettle I use to heat water for tea and to use in my French press for coffee no longer builds up the residue inside from the hard water. Absolutely reccomend this product!

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Our countertop drinking water filter system is very easy to install, and it only takes a few minutes to do; no plumber is necessary. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. How often do I have to replace the cartridges and how much do they cost?

We recommend replacing the cartridges after six months or 450 gallons, whichever comes first. Replacement filters cost $59.99, but you can save 15%, get free shipping, and extend your product warranty by signing up for our no-contract auto-ship filter replacement program, Water for Life.

  3. Is this purified water?

No, and actually, purified water is not as healthy as filtered water. Purified water undergoes reverse osmosis or distillation, which strip everything out of your water - not only the contaminants, but also the healthy, natural minerals. Our system uses selective filtration designed to reduce contaminants from the water and leave in the natural healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

  4. How do I recycle the replacement filters?

Our company will recycle the filters for you, but we do not cover the shipping cost to return the filters back to us. In reality, the environmental impact of shipping the filters back to us outweighs the good of recycling. To recycle the AQ-4035 drinking filters yourself, remove the ends of the filters, recycle the plastic parts (which are appropriately numbered) and put the carbon either in your compost pile or garden (carbon is good for plant life), or just throw it out (since the carbon degrades quickly, and is a positive component in a landfill).

  5. I'm a renter, so I can't drill or modify the plumbing. Which filter system should I get?

The countertop system is perfect for renters because it does not require a new hole in the counter. To install an under counter system, you can remove the existing sprayer or soap dispenser in your rental and install our faucet in its place. This option will not damage or permanently modify your plumbing. When you move out, you can easily remove the system and reconnect your plumbing back to normal.

  6. What size adapters do you send with the countertop system (for the diverter hose)?

    13/16 and 15/16 male.

  7. What size is the chrome collar on the countertop system (on the diverter hose)?

    55/64-27 female.

  8. What does TDS mean?

TDS is the acronym for Total Dissolved Solids, the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals, but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

  9. What is BPA? And why are people concerned about it?

BPA stands for Bisphenol-A, a contaminant found in most plastics. BPA can adversely affect your health if consumed at high levels. Aquasana drinking systems do not contain BPA, and our filtration process reduces existing BPA.

  10. Does having hard water mean it is contaminated?

Hard water is more of a nuisance than a health risk, and is not necessarily contaminated. Most water sources in the USA are considered hard. Hard water is generally safe to drink, after it has been properly treated.

  11. What is soft water, and is it safe to drink?

Having soft water just means you have a lower concentration of dissolved minerals in the water (primarily calcium and magnesium). Soft water does not mean clean water. Your water can be soft and still contain contaminants.

  12. What is selective filtration, and how do Aquasana systems filter drinking water?

Selective filtration is the process of sub-micron filtration, micron filtration, adsorption and ion exchange, all of which selectively reduces chemicals, heavy particulates and most dangerous heavy metals from the water while maintaining healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium.

  13. How do I know if an Aquasana system will be compatible with my faucet?

The only faucets the AQ-4000 water filtration system will not be compatible with are the 2-in-1 faucets that have a detachable sprayer at the faucet opening. The AQ-4000 will fit most standard faucets and also comes with two adapters. If your faucet happens to be a non-standard size than the hose connection or adapters that come with unit, you can take your aerator to the plumbing section at your local hardware store and have it measured. After you know the size of your aerator, contact technical support with the size and we will see if we carry the right size adapter, and we will send it to you.

When do you know when you know you have to replace with new Countertop drinking water filters  Does the water slows down

Asked by: Irena
The water filter capacity is 450 gallons or 6 months whichever comes first. If you drink out of a pitcher measure the capacity. You have to do some math. It should be easy to figure approximately how much you use per week. Hope this helps.

Asked by: Kathy1959
I am not a scientist but I believe in my Aquasana countertop to keep my water clean of a LOT of bad things. However, I would say that my understanding of viruses is that they do not spread through water; rather they are airborne.

Asked by: Gabrielstre
the package provides multiple adapter but if you those one's don't fit you can go to any home improvement stores and buy the right one. It would be best to use non plastic ones to avoid stripping the tread off the filter and your faucet.

What are the performance characteristics of the AQ-4000W? I don't imagine that they are as robust as the under-the-sink models with extra filtration, and I don't see any performance charts on your website for this particular, counter-top model.

Asked by: Leez
both my daughter and myself will never allow ourselves to be without at least the counter-top filter from Aquasana. The water is notably better in every way, and the replacement filters arrive just as you are beginning to detect a change in taste. The job they do is exceptional, and when my kids are able to purchase their own house I know they will be interested in getting an under-sink or whole-house model. We have used the counter-top models for about 3 years and will never be without. You will love it!

How will I know my countertop filter needs replacing?

Asked by: The water dude
The average household usage is about 6 months however, while I do use the date as a guide, there are other indicators as well. First, the water begins to flow more slowly from the faucet and the biggest indicator of all is the taste of the water.

There is a little knob on the side that pulls in and out. Pull it out to run the cold water through the filters -- push it in to run either hot or cold water out the faucet like normal. If your knob does not push in you may want to contact customer service.

Is the water cold? Or do you have to purchase another container to transfer the filtered water? I don't understand the point of a countertop filtration system if you're only getting warm/room temperature water.

Asked by: Carlson
The water is the same as what is in your pipes. Of course if you let the water run for a minute it should be around 55 degrees. If you want it fridge temp you have to put a container in the fridge. When taking pills we don’t need fridge water. You either need a refrigerator with a “ice water “ option, or pay over 1200$ for a stand alone unit, and they are not as cold as your fridge! The benefit of this unit is that you can fill ANY container that will fit in your sink! My wife will fill up personal containers and stick them in freezer before going out to lawn work. I’ll fill up our quart carafe and my half gallon work bottle at the same time. You can fill containers all day long! Your not limited to ONE pitcher!   For the price of this unit, the thorough effectiveness of filtration, and versatility, and longevity, this is your best value!
