Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can’t wait to see how we like it over time! The instillation was a bit rocky, but it was our old faucet and not the filter! We’re looking forward to seeing if it is as well loved as our countertop dispenser was for the last 4 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Obvious improvement in water quality Having this water filter gives me confidence that my drinking and cooking water is healthy. The unit itself fits easily on my counter and is trouble free in operation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 9 years of Aquasauna When my wife graduated college the first thing she wanted to do was buy a nice water filter for our home and upgrade our air filtration. I obliged and we bought the aquasana countertop system which we have had now for almost 10 years. It's fantastic and we love it. We also use their shower system and our family loves having soft hair and normal skin that's not too dry from all the chlorine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, water that tastes good! I live in a city that supposedly has great tasting water - and most of it does! But for some reason, at my house, the water intermittently tastes awful! I have tried other filters (both pitcher and under sink), but had resorted to drinking bottled water because none of them worked. I decided to give the Aquasana countertop filter a try. It was easy to install, and now I have finally have great tasting water. I've had it more than a month, and it has been consistently tasty. I now keep a 2-liter bottle in my refrigerator full of water that I got through my filter, and so I have cold, delicious water available any time I want it without having to keep buying disposable bottles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good. Easy to install. Water quality is better than using one of the pitcher type filters. The filter doesn't take up too much space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product, easy install Water filter was easy to install on my existing faucet. So far, it seems like everything is working fine and water tastes great! I wish the tube connecting to the faucet to the filter unit was longer, but otherwise, I am very pleased with my product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ware from a great product This product installed easily. The quality of the water surpasses anything I have used before to include high-priced bottled water. The taste is superb, and the water is crystal clear and clean. With changing the filter every six months, I went from $50 per month for bottles water to $10 per month for Aquasana water. I also got the filtered drinking canister for work, and it does a great job too.

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Our countertop drinking water filter system is very easy to install, and it only takes a few minutes to do; no plumber is necessary. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. How often do I have to replace the cartridges and how much do they cost?

We recommend replacing the cartridges after six months or 450 gallons, whichever comes first. Replacement filters cost $59.99, but you can save 15%, get free shipping, and extend your product warranty by signing up for our no-contract auto-ship filter replacement program, Water for Life.

  3. Is this purified water?

No, and actually, purified water is not as healthy as filtered water. Purified water undergoes reverse osmosis or distillation, which strip everything out of your water - not only the contaminants, but also the healthy, natural minerals. Our system uses selective filtration designed to reduce contaminants from the water and leave in the natural healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

  4. How do I recycle the replacement filters?

Our company will recycle the filters for you, but we do not cover the shipping cost to return the filters back to us. In reality, the environmental impact of shipping the filters back to us outweighs the good of recycling. To recycle the AQ-4035 drinking filters yourself, remove the ends of the filters, recycle the plastic parts (which are appropriately numbered) and put the carbon either in your compost pile or garden (carbon is good for plant life), or just throw it out (since the carbon degrades quickly, and is a positive component in a landfill).

  5. I'm a renter, so I can't drill or modify the plumbing. Which filter system should I get?

The countertop system is perfect for renters because it does not require a new hole in the counter. To install an under counter system, you can remove the existing sprayer or soap dispenser in your rental and install our faucet in its place. This option will not damage or permanently modify your plumbing. When you move out, you can easily remove the system and reconnect your plumbing back to normal.

  6. What size adapters do you send with the countertop system (for the diverter hose)?

    13/16 and 15/16 male.

  7. What size is the chrome collar on the countertop system (on the diverter hose)?

    55/64-27 female.

  8. What does TDS mean?

TDS is the acronym for Total Dissolved Solids, the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals, but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

  9. What is BPA? And why are people concerned about it?

BPA stands for Bisphenol-A, a contaminant found in most plastics. BPA can adversely affect your health if consumed at high levels. Aquasana drinking systems do not contain BPA, and our filtration process reduces existing BPA.

  10. Does having hard water mean it is contaminated?

Hard water is more of a nuisance than a health risk, and is not necessarily contaminated. Most water sources in the USA are considered hard. Hard water is generally safe to drink, after it has been properly treated.

  11. What is soft water, and is it safe to drink?

Having soft water just means you have a lower concentration of dissolved minerals in the water (primarily calcium and magnesium). Soft water does not mean clean water. Your water can be soft and still contain contaminants.

  12. What is selective filtration, and how do Aquasana systems filter drinking water?

Selective filtration is the process of sub-micron filtration, micron filtration, adsorption and ion exchange, all of which selectively reduces chemicals, heavy particulates and most dangerous heavy metals from the water while maintaining healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium.

  13. How do I know if an Aquasana system will be compatible with my faucet?

The only faucets the AQ-4000 water filtration system will not be compatible with are the 2-in-1 faucets that have a detachable sprayer at the faucet opening. The AQ-4000 will fit most standard faucets and also comes with two adapters. If your faucet happens to be a non-standard size than the hose connection or adapters that come with unit, you can take your aerator to the plumbing section at your local hardware store and have it measured. After you know the size of your aerator, contact technical support with the size and we will see if we carry the right size adapter, and we will send it to you.

Is the water cold? Or do you have to purchase another container to transfer the filtered water? I don't understand the point of a countertop filtration system if you're only getting warm/room temperature water.

Asked by: Carlson
The water is the same as what is in your pipes. Of course if you let the water run for a minute it should be around 55 degrees. If you want it fridge temp you have to put a container in the fridge. When taking pills we don’t need fridge water. You either need a refrigerator with a “ice water “ option, or pay over 1200$ for a stand alone unit, and they are not as cold as your fridge! The benefit of this unit is that you can fill ANY container that will fit in your sink! My wife will fill up personal containers and stick them in freezer before going out to lawn work. I’ll fill up our quart carafe and my half gallon work bottle at the same time. You can fill containers all day long! Your not limited to ONE pitcher!   For the price of this unit, the thorough effectiveness of filtration, and versatility, and longevity, this is your best value!

Does anyone else taste the plastic tubing when the water first comes out? I taste it in the water...tastes like surgical plastic. I am concerned that is leached into the water. BPA free doesn't mean plastic-free. Thanks

Asked by: Spiralgal
I have had the on the Counter Unit for about a year now and have no distinct taste of plastic at all. I suppose the line could be a Stainless one? But we would be limited to where we can set them up without a flexible line. Also my biggest issue is more about how slow the water comes through. But I'd rather have a filter than not since the pipes are old where I rent.

Can the filters be stored upside down while attached to the faucet. The unit doesn't fit next to the sink, because the tubing is too short. It fits on the drain rack if we place the unit upside down. Thanks

Asked by: Spiralgal
my guess would be yes.....it may have to fill up when it's turned right side up.....slight delay maybe...?

Does the counter top filter remove fluoride?

Asked by: Marla

I put hot water thru my filter by mistake .just a litre of medium hot tap water .will that have ruined my filter.

Asked by: Hot water
Hello, Thank you for contacting us. While we certainly do not suggest running hot water through the system, a brief hiccup like this wont destroy the filter. You can continue using the system, just try to ensure that you avoid running hot water through the system going forward. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
