Rated 5 out of 5 by from Psychologically it's a great feeling Had this system for about about two months now. Taste great, easy to install. After years of drinking fluoride it feels so good to not be. Lugging water from my kitchen to my bathroom to brush my teeth with this fluoride-free water. Even guest in my home have comment that it was "good tasting" water. Thanks Aquasana, wish I had the money to do a whole house system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a great product I think this is a poorly constructed product. All fixtures are plastic and are already causing problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Product with Exceptions I installed the RO successfully. In general, the kit was well engineered and the installation instructions were well written. However, I was dismayed to find that the red hose from the faucet to the sink drain was not long enough to reach the far side of my centrally placed garbage disposal outlet which was the only downward-facing part of the drain I could tap into. I was surprised to discover this problem since a central disposal with outlet on the far side of the disposal compared to the faucet placement does not seem like an odd arrangement for which the kit should be engineered. The cost associated with providing a longer (e.g., 12") hose on the faucet seems like a small expense considering the cost of the kit and the disruption it causes the installer/owner. The attached image shows the extra length added to reach the drain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Quality! I am extraordinarily amazed at the quality of water I am tasting, since installing the Osmosis-Chrome. I thought we had great water but I can definitely taste the difference. I don't taste chemicals nor any residual aftertaste. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is easy to use and we are constantly using our. I bought this a few months ago and had it installed last month. Although it was not what I thought I had bought, I’m delighted with our purchase. Installation was difficult for our plumber to handle; however with assistance from another employee they installed it. I’m so happy we have it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great water, painful to install Pros: awesome water, fluoride free!!! Cons: I had to get a new part on two different occasions. Waiting four days for delivery. Pretty straight forward to install, poor quality parts... everything does not need to be speed connect... and please have your QA department do a better job, minus two stars on your parts quality. Pros: awesome water!!! Yes, I know I’ve said that already, but the pain of the install was worth it... be safe, don’t blindly trust the water that comes out of your faucet. Please remember fluoride is a poison, great for external use (toothpaste), but not to injest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great clean water I bought the Reverse osmosis system and had it installed during our kitchen remodel. We are very happy with the water taste and the quality of the system. I will be having the filters sent as needed. I don't have to keep track..... Love that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this filter My filter was installed New Year's day 2018. I have really enjoyed having pure water to drink. I typically drink about a gallon and a half a day, so I don't think it will take long to recoup what I paid for the filter and no longer buying bottled water. But the best thing is my daughter can drink this filtered water. Regular tap water causes multiple painful sores in her mouth so she had been drinking bottled water for years. That one thing alone has been the greatest joy of owning this filter. Instead of buying 5 or 6 cases of bottled water at a time she only keeps one to have when she is away from home. Even then she carries mostly our home filtered water. Think I'm going to get the shower filters next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase ever! Best tasting water ever! Clear and fresh tasting just like pure spring water! A great price and a great value!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Water tastes great The water has a clean flavor and I love it. My only complaint is it is slow coming out. My husband says it is by design. We had a different brand before which discontinued now that the water run pretty quickly from the storage bladder. I am happy with the system and worth the money so we don't have to buy bottled water.

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I need a plumber to install the system or can I install it myself?

Depending on your existing skills and experience, we recommend hiring a professional to install your reverse osmosis system. Installation does require drilling into your pipes which is not recommended for individuals unfamiliar with plumbing and permanent appliance installation. Please read through the owner's manual carefully before attempting to install the system. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. How often do I have to replace the cartridges and membrane?

    • Stage 1 (Carbon) and Stage 3 (Claryum) filter cartridges should be replaced every 6 months or 365 gallons. To make replacements easier and cheaper, these cartridges are eligible for our Water for Life auto-ship program. Get free shipping, the best discounts, and an extended product warranty by joining Water for Life.
    • We recommend replacing Stage 2 (RO Membrane) every 2 years depending on usage and water quality. For homes with higher water usage and/or poorer water quality, you may need to replace your RO membrane every 1 to 2 years. For homes with lower water usage and/or better water quality, you may only need to replace your RO membrane every 2 to 3 years.
    • We recommend replacing the remineralizer every 1 year depending on usage and water quality.

  3. Is this purified water?

Yes. The Aquasana OptimH2O uses reverse osmosis to effectively purify your drinking water. In addition to reverse osmosis, the OptimH2O system also uses selective filtration to reduce over 60 other contaminants, plus includes a remineralizer designed to put back healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium that are removed in the reverse osmosis process.

  4. I'm a renter, so I can't drill or modify the plumbing. What should I do?

Unfortunately, drilling into your water pipes is required to install the Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis system. If you already have an existing hole for a vegetable sprayer or soap dispenser on your sink countertop, our AQ-5200 and AQ-5300 Under Counter Drinking Water Systems can be installed without making permanent changes to your sink and are great options for rental properties. If there is not an existing hole on your sink countertop, we also have two countertop options that offer the same professional grade filtration as our under counter options (please see the Powered Water Filtration System or AQ-4000).

  5. I have an existing filtration or side faucet from a previous system. Can I use that with my new Aquasana water filter?

The faucet included with the Aquasana OptimH2O is specifically designed and NSF tested and certified to work with our reverse osmosis system — any other Aquasana faucet or faucet from another filtration system not designed to work with a reverse osmosis system will not work for the Aquasana OptimH2O and may cause damage to your filtration system. If you choose to use another reverse osmosis air gap faucet, we recommend you enlist the help of a plumber to ensure proper installation.

  6. Why is it important to flush my OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis System during the initial installation?

When RO membranes are manufactured, there is a preservative used to protect the membrane fibers from damage. This preservative needs to be flushed out after the system is installed and prior to drinking water from the RO system. In addition, the RO holding tank should be sanitized with a drop of bleach during the install. It is important to flush the system for the entire 24 hours during the initial install to ensure all the bleach from the holding tank is washed away before consumption.

  7. What does TDS mean?

TDS is the acronym for Total Dissolved Solids, the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals, but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Aquasana OptimH2O comes standard with a 1 year remineralizer designed to replace healthy calcium, magnesium, and potassium lost in the reverse osmosis process.

  8. Does the Aquasana OptimH2O remove fluoride?

Yes. The Aquasana OptimH2O is NSF Certified to remove over 95% of fluoride from your drinking water.

  9. Does the Aquasana OptimH2O remove arsenic?

Yes. The Aquasana OptimH2O is NSF Certified to remove over 97% of arsenic from your drinking water.

  10. How many gallons does the RO holding tank store?

The RO holding tank stores 3.2 gallons of water at a time.

  11. What is the flow rate of the Aquasana OptimH2O?

OptimH2O flows at a rate of 0.5 gpm (gallons per minute).

User Q & A

I see that you put minerals back in the water but I am wondering what kind of minerals? Are they alkaline minerals? Not all minerals are organic and good for you. Thank you

Asked by: Beth5
One of the reasons I purchased this unit was that the water is alkaline. It tastes great. The company can better answer your question about which minerals are added back after filtration.

What minerals are put back in with the remineralizer?

Asked by: Stosky
First,  you should request this information from Aquasana.  They will tell you what their unit provides.   My guess is that the mineralizer contains magnesium and calcium. Important to remember is that most of our mineral intake is from foods and supplements, NOT water.  Furthermore, a number of inorganic minerals found in our water are harmful and potential precursors to a number of debilitating conditions including disease.  Better to get them removed than worry about a loss of minerals an R O system may produce.  Again, the use of an RO system is a no-brainer.  Mineral supplements are inexpensive and do not include inorganic species that are harmful to the human condition. Lastly, if you eat a healthy diet and a few raw veggies you won't need supplements.  Hope this is helpful.

My faucet leaks whenever you lift the handle. Do you sell just the faucet?

Asked by: Willie
If it's leaking out of the hole in the back, there is a problem with one of your connections. If it is leaking out of the bottom, you have a defective faucet and they should send you a new one free of charge.

Tests by the city indicate high alkalinity water to the residents. Will the re-minerialization component increase the pH even higher?

Asked by: dre012
Once your water goes through a Reverse Osmosis process, it strips the water of the naturally healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium. We add the remineralizer to put those healthy minerals that are good for your body back into the water. After the entire process, your water will be at a perfectly healthy pH level for consumption. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Do you have a system that doesn't require an extra faucet on the countertop ? I have a granite top and an under mount sink. If the cold line out of the wall can be connected between the flexible line and feed then I can have even the ice maker hooked up.

Asked by: Northeast
This system doesn’t require the extra faucet. However, you would need additional plumbing connectors that are not included. I would recommend using a licensed plumber.  Ron164

I am looking for counter top REVERSE OSMOSIS

Asked by: Elisa
Hi Elisa - Our reverse osmosis system is an under-counter unit as it has to connect to the water line that's underneath your sink. We do not have a reverse osmosis system that could be installed above your counter. Our other drinking systems are NSF certified to remove 77 contaminants. If your main concern is not fluoride, you may want to take a look at our Clean Water Machine or our Countertop Water filter: https://www.aquasana.com/drinking-water-filter-systems/countertop-attached
