Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Install Hubby Brian was able to hook it up in 30 minutes. The tubes weren’t pushed in enough which we saw quickly with drips. Easy fix, no issues! Water tastes great with no chlorine smell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super happy with our decision Shopping water filters is exhausting. We finally chose this one because. I'm so happy with it. It was easy to install. The water quality is excellent and I can tell it's remineralized. My mom was visiting and asked what filter it was since she loved the taste and she ordered 3 for her house! Definitely recommending to everyone and will have them for all my faucets!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option for apartment dwellers My husband who is a plumber installed the whole house filter and triple stage under sink filter for drinking for my sister. Everyone raves about her water quality now. I am temporarily in an apartment so neither of those options would work for me. Having clean cold water at the tap was the perfect option for my temporary situation. Now I don’t have to buy drinking water nor deal with the chemicals or waste of plastic bottles

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fastest and easiest way to add filtration I love this filter! I’m a renter, and this unit installed with just a few screws under the sink - meaning I didn’t have to worry about whether the sink had enough holes for a new faucet, or whether it would even look right next to the existing faucet. I’m no plumber, but in less than an hour I had good tasting water right from the tap, filtered to really high standards, and I won’t need to buy another filter for my pitcher ever again. I could also safely mix the tap water with formula for my babies knowing the quality is as good or better than my filter pitcher. A great product at a very fair price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a difference! We are really happy with this filter. It was really simple to install and we noticed a big difference in the taste and quality of the water right away. It took a long time to find a filter that removes the cleaning agents used by our water supply source. We are so relieved and will be using this from now on.

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Our under sink drinking water filter systems are easy to install, and a plumber is not required. If you have any questions or need assistance, please call our Customer Support line at 866-662-6885.

  2. How often do I have to replace the cartridges and how much do they cost?

To keep your system working and prevent the growth of bacteria or mold, you should replace your filter every six months or upon reaching the specified gallon capacity, which is 784 gallons for the Claryum® Direct Connect (AQ-MF-1). The filter replacement cost is $69.99, or $59.49 with Water for Life®. Water for Life® is our no-contract filter subscription program that offers 15% off filter replacements, an extended warranty, and free shipping. Learn more here

  3. Is this purified water?

No, filtered water can be healthier than purified water. Purified water undergoes reverse osmosis or distillation, which strips everything out of your water - not only contaminants, but also healthy, naturally occurring minerals. Our system uses Claryum® selective filtration designed to reduce up to 99% of 77 contaminants while retaining the healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

  4. What's the micron rating of this filter?

The Claryum® Direct Connect is designed to filter down to 0.5 microns.

  5. I'm a renter, so I can't drill or modify the plumbing. What should I do?

Since this system uses your existing faucet, there's no need for any drilling or modified plumbing. Simply attach the system to the cold-water line underneath your sink. It's also easy to remove and take with you to your next apartment or home.

  6. What is the size of the dual port adapter that attaches the water line?

The dual port adapter supplied with this system fits 3/8" water lines. This is the most common water line size.

  7. Does this system remove fluoride?

No, the Claryum® Direct Connect does not remove fluoride from your drinking water. If you're looking to remove fluoride, we recommend a reverse osmosis water filter such as the OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum®.

  8. What does TDS mean?

TDS, or Total Dissolved Solids, is the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Read more about TDS here.

  9. What is BPA? Should I be concerned about it?

BPA stands for Bisphenol-A, a contaminant found in most plastics. BPA can adversely affect your health if consumed at high levels. Aquasana drinking systems do not contain BPA, and our filtration process reduces existing BPA found in tap water.

  10. Does having hard water mean it is contaminated?

Water is considered "hard" when high levels of dissolved minerals are found within its makeup. Hard water is more of a nuisance than a health risk and is not necessarily contaminated. Most water sources in the USA are considered hard. Hard water is generally safe to drink after it has been properly treated.

  11. What is soft water, and is it safe to drink?

Soft water does not mean clean water. Your water can be soft and still contain contaminants. Having soft water just means you have a lower concentration of dissolved minerals (primarily calcium and magnesium) in the water.

  12. What is Claryum® Technology and what does it do?

Claryum® technology is a selective filtration process that uses sub-micron filtration, micron filtration, adsorption, and ion exchange. Together, these technologies reduce up to 99% of 77 contaminants from water while maintaining healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

  13. What is the difference between the Claryum® Direct Connect and the other under sink drinking systems?

The Claryum® Direct Connect has the highest flow rate of any Aquasana drinking water filter at 1.5 GPM, while still removing up to 99% of 77 contaminants. It does not require a dedicated faucet, but instead can be used with your existing faucet. Other Aquasana under sink drinking water filters require a dedicated faucet. All of our under sink filters vary based on the number of filter stages used and flow rate. In some cases, the number of contaminants removed varies.

  14. I already have a dedicated faucet in my kitchen. Can I use that with my new Claryum® Direct Connect Water Filter?

We've designed the Claryum® Direct Connect to give you fast, convenient access to clean, healthy water directly from your existing faucet. Although it's not the designed intent of this system, it can be used with a dedicated faucet. You will be required to separately purchase any parts needed for this type of installation. Unfortunately, we do not supply installation instructions for this type of installation.

Will this under sink filter eliminate the lime scale buildup that I see in my tea kettle?

Asked by: RemDog
Hello, Thank you for your question. The Claryum Direct Connect selective filtration technology retains naturally occurring, beneficial minerals in your water like calcium, potassium, and magnesium for healthier water. Unfortautnely, the Claryum Direct Connect will not help to reduce nor remove limescale buildup from the drinking water or mineral deposits behind on surfaces like glassware, countertops, pots, pans, chrome faucets, or stainless steel. -Aquasana

Do you have to turn the water off to swap old for new cartridge?

Asked by: Sail
Hello Sail, Thank you for your question. Yes. We do ask to turn off the cold water supply under the kitchen sink before performing a filter change. After the new cartridge has been replaced, turn on the kitchen faucet to COLD water and run water through the cartridge at full force for at least 15 minutes. This action will purge the system of air and carbon fines ensuring maximum filter life. -Aquasana
