Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real eye-opener! We purchased 2 systems in April 2016, one for us and one for an elderly parent. In early October the parent's unit began to emit the "replace now" signals (audible tone and flashing light). Since the water usage at that location is much lower than our home, we expected to find the original filters in a "barely used" condition. Wow. Were we surprised. It was obvious by the appearance of the original filters that they had been hard at work and very effective in removing impurities. We'll soon be replacing the filters at our home and fully expect the same results.. The replacement process was simple and quick. Happy campers here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I"m Picky!!!!! My wife and I have a Veterinary Clinic and we have seen numerous animals - esp kidney and liver dogs - experience improved blood values after the owners switch to bottled or home filtered water. Our critters are literally the canaries in the coal mines!! We ALWAYS recommend Aquasana!! Our small town (and I think most towns) experiences variations in chlorine and other micro contaminants from time to time. Of course they won't admit it but anecdotally we see groupings of variations....and not only because of extra moisture in the soil - which can lift giardia out of the ground. Over the years I've used different filters from Brita to NSA and have been a loyal Aquasana person for about eight years now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An improved filer system This 3 stage filter system is an upgrade from the previous 2 stage system. It is much easier to change filters than the old model. You do not need a tool and it virtually eliminates leakage after just hand tiring the filters. One issue is that the filters do not last long. To provide drinking water for 3 people, I expect a set of filters to last for 6 months. Instead I have to change filters every 3 months when the water flow getting too slow. I also think that the battery has no use - the filters must be changed long before it sounds. It is better to save those batteries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Clean Water! We've been use Aquasana Water Filters for over 3 years now, and are on the auto delivery program every 6 months for our home and our business. At home, we're on a well, and have a filtration system, & water softener, as our water is very hard and acidic. Our water still didn't taste great, so we installed a separate drinking water faucet, and hooked up Aquasana's filters. The water couldn't taste better. I think the filters could last even longer than six months since it still tastes good after that time, but one of their reps advised me that mold could possibly grow if kept in longer, which is why they advise replacing that often. I'm sold on the product and the taste of our water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tasty water! For years we had used and been satisfied with a countertop Sun Pure system. That company had to stop making new 6 stage water filters because of a patent issue, although I could buy replacement filters and UV lamps. When we renovated the kitchen, I wanted a new under-sink filter that provided similarly great tasting water. Our Aquasana water is delicious and comes cold out of a tap placed conveniently at the corner of the sink. The total annual replacement cost for the filters is similar to what I'd paid for the Sun Pure, and the auto-ship option has been accurate at estimating when the system will ask for a filter change. I am very satisfied with this product and highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I will NEVER go back to water without Aquasana!! Love! I could never drink my tap water before I installed the Aquasana 3 Stage Drinking Water Filter Replacement System; it tasted so horrible, and I was also concerned about the impurities and toxins in my water. I am so extremely impressed by the taste of the water now! I will NEVER go without my Aquasana product again, because I love it and I have the convenience of the automatic replacement shipments! As a budget shopper I am always looking for ways to save money and this is one of the ways Aquasana has given me an opportunity to save on their, already reasonable priced, products! What a money-saver!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy with this product Our local water has a strong chlorine taste. We had used bottled water for years when our dentist mentioned that reverse osmosis takes the fluoride out of the water. We want Fluoride to protect the kids' teeth. The AQ-5300 gives us water that tastes better than bottled and leaves the healthy minerals in. It was a snap to install and changing the filters us also easy. The faucet is nice looking and completely reliable. It would be nice if the flow was a little faster, but that's really only an issue when we refill the 5 gallon bottle for the water cooler or fill a big pot for Pasta. The replacement plan gives us fresh filters at just the right interval. Aquasana really knows their customers' needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a good system Pros - The filtering process is excellent! The water is oderless, no chemical taste from the city, just clean clear water. Love it. Replacement filters are easy to change. Cons - filtered water pressure is a little low however it is better than the previous version of this system & We can't get our filters to last the advertised 6-month duration. Replacement of the filters has to be every 3-months not because of poor water quality but because of reduced water pressure & lastly the replacement filter kit is a little pricey, wouldn't be that bad if we could get the 6-months out of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You are what you drink I have the filter system installed under-on the kitchen sink. Consequently, the comparison between the water from the faucet and the filtered is easily made. The faucet water smells like chlorine, and on the rare occasions I taste it in a bathroom sink, the quality of the filtered water is readily apparent. And that's just the taste and smell. It's also filtering out the other toxins that are common in the municipal water supply. "Don't drink the water" now applies in the US. This is a great filtering system. Pay attention to your and your family's health. Drink filtered water!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We love this system......however.......... Honestly, we love knowing that this system works. The filters are difficult for us oldsters to install, and each time they come, we gird up our loins and get her done. This last set of filters gave us an extremely slow flow.......slower even than usual. The rep we talked to told us how fast the flow should be; we've never had that fast a flow. The company sent us new filters, for which we were very grateful. They work better, but the flow is still way too slow. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it soon. We would STILL purchase this system, knowing how pure the water is.

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Our under counter drinking water filter systems are very easy to install, and it only takes a few minutes to do; no plumber is necessary. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. How often do I have to replace the cartridges and how much do they cost?

We recommend replacing the cartridges after six months or the specified gallon capacity to prevent the growth of bacteria in the system. The AQ-5100 Single Stage has a capacity of 200 gallons, the AQ-5200 Two-Stage has a capacity of 500 gallons, the AQ-5300 Three-Stage has a capacity of 600 gallons and the AQ-5300+ Three-Stage has a capacity of 800 gallons. Replacement filters cost $29.99 for the AQ-5100, $59.99 for the AQ-5200, $64.99 for the AQ-5300 or $79.99 for the AQ-5300+, but you can save 15%, get free shipping, and extend your product warranty by signing up for our no-contract auto-ship filter replacement program, Water for Life. The performance indicating device on the AQ-5200, AQ-5300 and AQ-5300+ systems will sound a beeping alarm and flash red when it is time to change your cartridges. The AQ-5300+ also contains Bluetooth connectivity so you can download our iPhone App and get alerts for when it is time to change your cartridges and even order new replacements straight from the App!

  3. Is this purified water?

No, and actually, purified water is not as healthy as filtered water. Purified water undergoes reverse osmosis or distillation, which strip everything out of your water - not only the contaminants, but also the healthy, natural minerals. Our system uses selective filtration designed to reduce contaminants from the water and leave in the natural healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

  4. How do I recycle the replacement filters?

We have designed this system to minimize the environmental impact of our replacement elements, which are over 95% biodegradable carbon. Our company will recycle the filters for you, but we do not cover the shipping cost to return the filters back to us. In reality, the environmental impact of shipping the filters back to us outweighs the good of recycling. To recycle the drinking filters yourself, remove the ends of the filters, recycle the plastic parts (which are appropriately numbered) and put the carbon either in your compost pile or garden (carbon is good for plant life), or just throw it out (since the carbon degrades quickly, and is a positive component in a landfill).

  5. I'm a renter, so I can't drill or modify the plumbing. What should I do?

To install an under counter system, you can remove the existing sprayer or soap dispenser on your sink and install our faucet in its place. This option will not damage or permanently modify your plumbing. When you move out, you can easily remove the system and reconnect your plumbing back to normal. If you do not have an existing hole in your sink from a sprayer or soap dispenser, we also have a countertop drinking water filter that conveniently screws on to most kitchen faucets.

  6. What is the size of the brass T-fitting for under counter and premium under counter unit?

The most common size is 3/8" which originally comes with the system purchase. In rare cases some customers may need a 1/2" T-fitting which is sold separately and is available for purchase through technical support.

  7. What size hole do I need in my sink for the under counter and premium under counter systems?

The faucet that is included with our systems requires a 1/2" hole.

  8. What does TDS mean?

TDS is the acronym for Total Dissolved Solids, the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals, but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

  9. What is BPA? And why are people concerned about it?

BPA stands for Bisphenol-A, a contaminant found in most plastics. BPA can adversely affect your health if consumed at high levels. Aquasana drinking systems do not contain BPA, and our filtration process reduces existing BPA.

  10. Does having hard water mean it is contaminated?

Hard water is more of a nuisance than a health risk, and is not necessarily contaminated. Most water sources in the USA are considered hard. Hard water is generally safe to drink, after it has been properly treated.

  11. What is soft water, and is it safe to drink?

Having soft water just means you have a lower concentration of dissolved minerals in the water (primarily calcium and magnesium). Soft water does not mean clean water. Your water can be soft and still contain contaminants.

  12. What is selective filtration, and how do Aquasana systems filter drinking water?

Selective filtration is the process of sub-micron filtration, micron filtration, adsorption and ion exchange, all of which selectively reduces chemicals, heavy particulates and most dangerous heavy metals from the water while maintaining healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium.

  13. What is the difference between the single-stage, 2-stage and 3-stage under counter systems?

All of our drinking water systems use the same Aquasana Claryum® filtration technology. The single-stage system lasts 6 months or 200 gallons before the cartridges need to be replaced. Our 2- Stage system has a higher capacity than the single-stage, giving you 6 months or 500 gallons of clean, filtered water. The 3-Stage system includes a 20 micron pre-filter before the two Aquasana Claryum® filters. This pre-filter increases the capacity of the system from 500 gallons to 600 gallons. In addition, it improves flow rate in high sediment areas. The 3-Stage Max Flow system adds even more capacity to 800 gallons, a 44% increase in flow rate at .72 gallons per minute and Bluetooth connectivity for filter tracking.

  14. I have an existing side faucet from a previous system. Can I use that with my new Aquasana water filter?

We recommend that you use the faucet provided. We have extensively tested the system with the faucets included. The faucets are NSF Certified to have no lead content. In addition, they will not impart any unwanted chemicals into your water. If you choose to use another faucet, we recommend that you have a plumber install the system to ensure no leakage occurs. We also recommend that you install an NSF Certified faucet to ensure the health benefits of your new Aquasana water filter.

User Q & A

I'm getting a blue light and a beeping noise...my filters are 6 months old. Am I getting the light and beep because my filters are dirty or am I getting the light and beep because of a timed response, ergo, 6 months?
