Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tasting water! Researched and Aquasana under-sink filter was exactly what we wanted. The water tastes great and I think the water flow is fine for a small spout. It sure is faster than refrigerator filtered water dispenser! The only negative is that we can not get it installed tight enough to hold it in place. We keep having to go under the sink and retighten it. Not sure if the problem is our sink or the spout fixture. It also seems a bit flimsy. Our son will drink from the spout (NOT supposed to) and sometimes he leans on the spout. I'm very afraid he is going to break it because it just doesn't feel solid-steardy enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good with some Improvemens The system is very good, however I offer the following improvements that I feel could be made; Each under counter sink area is different. In our case it was necessary to mount the filter system on the left side of the cabinet. That would have been no problem had you supplied sufficient tubing. I suggest you put at l;east 4 feet of each size in your boxes to allow for that set of circumstances. As it were, I had to go out and purchase tubing to complete the installation. Secondly. I mounted the filter system a bit higher on the cabinet wall to keep it out of the way. It would be helpful if you would place the red light in the front portion of the unit so it could easily be seen from any angle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely buy again Did not know how bad the city water tasted until we installed this filter. It was so easy to install, and without incident. We actually drink more water now that this is installed. The only comment I could make, is the fact that for the 3-8" line, a plastic collar is included that looks like it should be installed in one direction, but after contacting Aquasana, apparently it does not matter. Would clear things up for the installer, if either it was multi-directional in shape, or at least mentioned in the instructions, that it does not matter how it is installed. No mention whatsoever in video, or written instructions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too good to be true I bought one of the Aquasana three-stage filters for my summer home at the beach. There, we use well water which has a questionable odor, although it is deemed safe by the county inspectors. Minerals cause glassware to easily spot, and there is visible rust coloring in the tub and shower areas. This filter was installed to give us pure drinking and cooking water, and water for making clean ice and coffee. The smell was eliminated. Of course, we don't have one for bathing. But, I will invest in a whole-house filter system in the near future. By the way, I am writing this from my winter home in which just installed a three-stage filter this past November. That's how much I like it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never again I will never order from this company again. When we got the system it was not easy to install at all. We get it installed and it takes forever and ever to fill a pitcher with the water. Just to get a glass to drink takes way too long. Then after we have it for about six months our replacement filters arrive. Well we install those and now the system leaked so bad-sprayed all over the place! So we p

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good filter, but does not improve taste The installation was pretty straight forward as this was replacing my old RO system that malfunctioned and was wasting a lot of water. The filters may improve the quality, but there is NO improvement in the taste over straight tap water, and we have Los Angeles tap water (not the best tasting in the world.) The old RO system gave us great tasting water but wasted a lot to get that taste. I also installed one of these filter systems in my RV but because the pump doesn't produce a lot of pressure, the flow rate is very low. I just hope the filtration is as good as they claim.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well for an entry level filtration system This system was part of a kitchen upgrade I did myself. As a "weekend warrior" plumber I found it easy to deal with. I'd never worked with the push-in fittings before, I'm an old "solder guy," but once I learned the basics it was very easy. You really need to understand how far you need to push the tubing into the fittings, its not obvious if you've never done it, but it works perfectly when done right. The flow is slow, that's probably necessary in a filter system without a reservoir tank, but if you just give it time, fill up a pitcher when you'll need more water fast, its really not a big issue. This is a brand new install so I can't comment on filter life at this point. We're enjoying the new system so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for limited space New tiny home downsized from palatial estate with reverse osmosis (RO). RO removes everything including good minerals. Wanted a system that would fit tiny home and provide better tasting water while removing as many chemicals as possible from city water. Great taste and with their regular filter change program, great for our budget too! You won't believe how easy this package is to install. One small drill hole in our composite sink, their 3-8" add-a-line fixture perfect and an industry standard for faucet water lines. Just loosen the existing faucet line after Your shutoff and the adapter screws onto the existing water valve! That slightly musty taste is gone and we feel better drinking cleaner water that still has important minerals. Better than bottled water. Yeah!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great filter, easy to install Makes having clean, fresh drinking water convenient -- no pitchers, no clumsy add-ons to the kitchen faucet. Compact -- fits in a cabinet with very limited space. Read reviews about installation problems, but I found it extremely easy to install, and the kit included almost everything I needed in appropriate sizes. The only thing I had to buy was a large stainless steel fender washer, because the hole in my sink was a bit large for the supplied nut. My interior designer wife is very pleased with how the finished installation looks, which is a big plus!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product, easy to install, great tasteing water. I installed this unit on our cruising sailboat to allow us to drink the water from our fiberglass water tanks. Water tastes great,no longer need to buy bottled water. This saves a lot of storage space for food and other supplies and a lot of money. Small size allows for unit to be installed in small spaces under settees in boats and RVs . I particularly like the fact that only the internal filter is replaced and not the heavy duty filter canister. Aquasana will auto ship replacement filters to you on your schedule, they also have a 90 day return policy.

Aquasana FAQs

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?

Our under counter drinking water filter systems are very easy to install, and it only takes a few minutes to do; no plumber is necessary. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 866-662-6885 can walk you through the installation process.

  2. How often do I have to replace the cartridges and how much do they cost?

We recommend replacing the cartridges after six months or the specified gallon capacity to prevent the growth of bacteria in the system. The AQ-5100 Single Stage has a capacity of 200 gallons, the AQ-5200 Two-Stage has a capacity of 500 gallons, the AQ-5300 Three-Stage has a capacity of 600 gallons and the AQ-5300+ Three-Stage has a capacity of 800 gallons. Replacement filters cost $29.99 for the AQ-5100, $59.99 for the AQ-5200, $64.99 for the AQ-5300 or $79.99 for the AQ-5300+, but you can save 15%, get free shipping, and extend your product warranty by signing up for our no-contract auto-ship filter replacement program, Water for Life. The performance indicating device on the AQ-5200, AQ-5300 and AQ-5300+ systems will sound a beeping alarm and flash red when it is time to change your cartridges. The AQ-5300+ also contains Bluetooth connectivity so you can download our iPhone App and get alerts for when it is time to change your cartridges and even order new replacements straight from the App!

  3. Is this purified water?

No, and actually, purified water is not as healthy as filtered water. Purified water undergoes reverse osmosis or distillation, which strip everything out of your water - not only the contaminants, but also the healthy, natural minerals. Our system uses selective filtration designed to reduce contaminants from the water and leave in the natural healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

  4. How do I recycle the replacement filters?

We have designed this system to minimize the environmental impact of our replacement elements, which are over 95% biodegradable carbon. Our company will recycle the filters for you, but we do not cover the shipping cost to return the filters back to us. In reality, the environmental impact of shipping the filters back to us outweighs the good of recycling. To recycle the drinking filters yourself, remove the ends of the filters, recycle the plastic parts (which are appropriately numbered) and put the carbon either in your compost pile or garden (carbon is good for plant life), or just throw it out (since the carbon degrades quickly, and is a positive component in a landfill).

  5. I'm a renter, so I can't drill or modify the plumbing. What should I do?

To install an under counter system, you can remove the existing sprayer or soap dispenser on your sink and install our faucet in its place. This option will not damage or permanently modify your plumbing. When you move out, you can easily remove the system and reconnect your plumbing back to normal. If you do not have an existing hole in your sink from a sprayer or soap dispenser, we also have a countertop drinking water filter that conveniently screws on to most kitchen faucets.

  6. What is the size of the brass T-fitting for under counter and premium under counter unit?

The most common size is 3/8" which originally comes with the system purchase. In rare cases some customers may need a 1/2" T-fitting which is sold separately and is available for purchase through technical support.

  7. What size hole do I need in my sink for the under counter and premium under counter systems?

The faucet that is included with our systems requires a 1/2" hole.

  8. What does TDS mean?

TDS is the acronym for Total Dissolved Solids, the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals, but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

  9. What is BPA? And why are people concerned about it?

BPA stands for Bisphenol-A, a contaminant found in most plastics. BPA can adversely affect your health if consumed at high levels. Aquasana drinking systems do not contain BPA, and our filtration process reduces existing BPA.

  10. Does having hard water mean it is contaminated?

Hard water is more of a nuisance than a health risk, and is not necessarily contaminated. Most water sources in the USA are considered hard. Hard water is generally safe to drink, after it has been properly treated.

  11. What is soft water, and is it safe to drink?

Having soft water just means you have a lower concentration of dissolved minerals in the water (primarily calcium and magnesium). Soft water does not mean clean water. Your water can be soft and still contain contaminants.

  12. What is selective filtration, and how do Aquasana systems filter drinking water?

Selective filtration is the process of sub-micron filtration, micron filtration, adsorption and ion exchange, all of which selectively reduces chemicals, heavy particulates and most dangerous heavy metals from the water while maintaining healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium.

  13. What is the difference between the single-stage, 2-stage and 3-stage under counter systems?

All of our drinking water systems use the same Aquasana Claryum® filtration technology. The single-stage system lasts 6 months or 200 gallons before the cartridges need to be replaced. Our 2- Stage system has a higher capacity than the single-stage, giving you 6 months or 500 gallons of clean, filtered water. The 3-Stage system includes a 20 micron pre-filter before the two Aquasana Claryum® filters. This pre-filter increases the capacity of the system from 500 gallons to 600 gallons. In addition, it improves flow rate in high sediment areas. The 3-Stage Max Flow system adds even more capacity to 800 gallons, a 44% increase in flow rate at .72 gallons per minute and Bluetooth connectivity for filter tracking.

  14. I have an existing side faucet from a previous system. Can I use that with my new Aquasana water filter?

We recommend that you use the faucet provided. We have extensively tested the system with the faucets included. The faucets are NSF Certified to have no lead content. In addition, they will not impart any unwanted chemicals into your water. If you choose to use another faucet, we recommend that you have a plumber install the system to ensure no leakage occurs. We also recommend that you install an NSF Certified faucet to ensure the health benefits of your new Aquasana water filter.
