All About the Claryum® Direct Connect
Claryum® Direct Connect
Water filters are an effective way to provide your household with healthy, great-tasting water. However, waiting too long to replace your filter can cause your system to stop working, and it may even become a source of bacteria or mold. Prevent filter contamination by replacing it on time.

Get filters auto-delivered right when you need them – plus receive 15% OFF the price of the replacement filters, free shipping, and an extended warranty on your filtration system. Our no-contract Water for Life® program makes filter replacements simple and cost-effective!
1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system?
Our under sink drinking water filter systems are easy to install, and a plumber is not required. If you have any questions or need assistance, please call our Customer Support line at 877-996-2875.
2. I’m a renter so I can’t drill or modify my plumbing. What should I do?
Since this system uses your existing faucet, there's no need for any drilling or modified plumbing. Simply attach the system to the cold water line underneath your sink. It's also easy to remove and take with you to your next apartment or home.
3 I already have a dedicated faucet in my kitchen. Can I use that with my new Claryum® Direct Connect water filter?
We've designed the Claryum® Direct Connect to give you fast, convenient access to clean, healthy water directly from your existing faucet. Although it's not the designed intent of this system, it can be used with a dedicated faucet. The water pressure from the Claryum® Direct Connect in conjunction with a dedicated faucet will be extremely high. You will be required to separately purchase any parts needed for this type of installation. Unfortunately, we do not supply installation instructions for this type of installation.
4. What is the size of the dual port adapter that attaches to the water line?
The dual port adapter supplied with this system fits 3/8" water lines. This is the most common water line size.
5. How often do I have to replace the filter and how much does it cost?
To keep your system working and prevent the growth of bacteria or mold, you should replace your filter every six months or upon reaching the specified gallon capacity, which is 784 gallons for the Claryum® Direct Connect (AQ-MF-1). For pricing, take a look at the replacement here.

6. What is Claryum® technology and what does it do?
Claryum® technology is a selective filtration process that uses sub-micron filtration, micron filtration, and adsorption. Together, these technologies reduce up to 99% of 77 contaminants from water while maintaining healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
7. What is the difference between the Claryum® Direct Connect and the other Aquasana under sink drinking systems?
The Claryum® Direct Connect has the highest flow rate of any Aquasana drinking water filter at 1.5 GPM, while still removing up to 99% of 77 contaminants. It does not require a dedicated faucet, but instead can be used with your existing faucet. All Aquasana under sink filters vary based on the number of filter stages used and flow rate. In some cases, the number of contaminants removed varies.
8. Is this purified water?
No, this is not purified water, it is filtered water. Purified water undergoes reverse osmosis or distillation, which strips everything out of your water - not only contaminants, but also healthy, naturally occurring minerals. Our system uses patented Claryum® selective filtration designed to reduce up to 99% of 77 contaminants while retaining the healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium.
9. What is the micron rating of this filter?
The Claryum® Direct Connect is designed to filter down to 0.5 microns.
10. Does this system remove fluoride?
No, the Claryum® Direct Connect does not remove fluoride from your drinking water. If you're looking to remove fluoride, we recommend a reverse osmosis water filter such as the OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum®.
11. What does TDS mean?
TDS, or Total Dissolved Solids, is the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Read more about TDS here.
12. What is BPA? Why are people concerned about it?
BPA stands for Bisphenol-A, a contaminant found in most plastics. BPA can adversely affect your health if consumed at high levels. Aquasana drinking systems do not contain BPA, and our filtration process reduces existing BPA.
13. Does having hard water mean it is contaminated?
No, hard water is not always considered contaminated. Most water sources in the USA are considered hard.
14. Is hard water safe to drink?
Hard water can be city water or well water meaning it may or may not be pre-treated. The minerals that make water "hard" are not considered contaminants, but hard water can still contain additional contaminants that are not safe for consumption.
15. What is soft water and how do I know if my home has it?
Soft water is water that has either been treated by a water softener or naturally contains less hard minerals. The most recognizable trait of "soft" water is how much more soap lathers, as opposed to hard water. Soap lathers less due to the higher concentration of minerals. Water softeners reduce the negative effects of dissolved minerals in water that can clump together and produce scale buildup.
16. Does having soft water mean it is clean water?
Soft water does not mean clean water. Your water can be soft and still have contaminants present in the water.
17. Is soft water safe to drink?
Yes, soft water is considered potable. Drinking water from a sodium-based softener increases your daily intake of sodium, which can lead to health problems in sodium-sensitive individuals. Please keep in mind that a water softener is not a water filter. A water softener does not remove contaminants present in your water.
