We’re thrilled to announce Aquasana has been named a 2023 Eco-Excellence Award winner by b/well magazine, marking our eighth consecutive win. As concerns over drinking water quality and contaminants continue to climb across the U.S., especially among parents, our Clean Water Machine has for the second year in a row been recognized for its innovative design, environmental sustainability, significant role in reducing plastic waste, and its ability to instantly remove 78 contaminants at the push of a button – no installation needed.

About the Eco-Excellence Awards

Now in its 13th year, the Eco-Excellence Awards™ is a natural and family-focused media awards program that recognizes exceptionalism in sustainability, health, and wellness. The months-long selection process started with in-depth product reviews conducted by a jury of media editors, celebrity judges, influencers, b/well’s Parents Lab, and wellness experts. The judges then narrowed down hundreds of entries to five finalists per category and opened the final selection process to public voting. This year’s winners were selected by 366,549 voters.

“Improving the health and wellness of families and their homes is at the center of everything we do at Aquasana,” says Derek Mellencamp, general manager at Aquasana. “We’re incredibly honored to be recognized by the Eco-Excellence Awards for the eighth year in a row, especially as we know that parents across the country are becoming increasingly concerned about drinking water quality and more committed to sustainability.”

Rising concerns about tap water quality in America

According to our fifth annual national Water Quality Survey, which polled 2,414 U.S. adults in April 2023, concern over drinking water quality in the U.S. is on the rise. In the past two years alone, the number of Americans who said they are concerned about the quality of unfiltered tap water in their home more than doubled from 34% in 2021 to 70% in 2023. For families, it’s even higher with 76% of U.S. parents expressing concern about their home’s tap water quality. In fact, our survey found that parents are 31% more likely than non-parents to say they are concerned about the quality of unfiltered tap water in their home. Not surprisingly, 96% of parents in America now filter their drinking water at home.

In addition to wellness, sustainability is also top of mind for families in this country. In fact, parents are 37% more likely than non-parents to say they filter their drinking water because it's environmentally friendly (56% vs. 41%), and that number is growing with a 12% year-over-year increase (50% in 2022 vs. 56% in 2023).

The number of Americans who said they “always or often” seek products to purchase because they are sustainable for the environment has grown by 130% over the past two years, up from 27% in 2021 to 62% in 2023. Even higher for families, 64% of parents say they always or often seek out products to purchase because they are sustainable for the environment, up 19% since last year (54% in 2022 vs. 64% in 2023) and up 12% compared to non-parents (64% vs. 57%).

In contrast, trust in bottled water has been steadily declining for years. The percentage of Americans who believe bottled water is the most trustworthy source of clean drinking water dropped 51% over the past five years, from 41% in 2019 and 2020 to 20% in 2023. Parents are also 31% less likely than non-parents to say bottled water is the most trustworthy source of clean drinking water (18% vs. 26%). Year-over-year, we found a 33% decrease in the percentage of parents who say bottled water is the most trustworthy source of clean drinking water (27% in 2022 vs. 18% in 2023).
